Clinical outcome and cerebrospinal fluid profiles in patients with tick-borne encephalitis and prior vaccination history.

The authors have analyzed the clinical picture of patients with an irregular vaccination history (10 cases) or with a real vaccine breakthrough three months after complete primary vaccination (1). The clinical presentation of TBE patients with an irregular vaccination history did not significantly differ from a control group without any TBE vaccination, although they showed a stronger cerebrospinal fluid immune response. The breakthrough patient experienced a severe meningoencephaloradiculitis. The authors discuss their findings with published data.
