In 2018, an uncommonly high number of TBE cases has been reported across Europe, and in some countries the highest number of cases since recording has been reported. This year, TBE epidemiology seems to be back in the \u201enormal range\u201c.<\/p>\n
Until the end of June 2019, 80 TBE cases have been notified in Switzerland compared to more than 206 cases last year. This corresponds to a medium-sized value in a multi-year comparison (since 2000, 24 to 206 cases have been reported for the first six month of a year).<\/p>\n
In Germany, 167 TBE cases have been reported until July 24, 2019 compared to 264 cases last year.<\/p>\n
In Austria, the number of hospitalized TBE cases was 98 until 22. July 2018.
\nIn contrast, 48 cases have been reported since July 21, 2019.<\/p>\n
Extrapolated to the end of this year, the extremely high numbers reported in 2018 will not be reached in Central Europe in 2019, even in the event that there is an autumn-peak of tick activity.<\/p>\n<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
